It’s the Best Damn State in the Nation

This page is simply a little collection of videos, places, stories, and memories that remind me of home. It’s somewhere I like to visit whenever I’m feeling a little homesick, missing Texas, or wanting to share some of my favorite things about the Lone Star State with someone who’s planning a visit. Some of the videos explore Texas history, its unique culture, traditions, and the people and places that make it so special. Others highlight the food, music, small towns, big cities, beautiful landscapes, and hidden gems that I think are worth knowing about. You’ll also find some of my favorite places to eat, things to see and do, and recommendations for anyone wanting to experience a little of what makes Texas, well, Texas. I’ve included a short description with each video to share a little about what it’s about, why I found it interesting, or why a particular place holds a special meaning for me. Some are informative, some are entertaining, and others are simply reminders of the sights, sounds, flavors, and memories that make Texas feel like home. My hope is that you’ll find something here that sparks your curiosity, helps you plan a visit, introduces you to a place you might not have known about, or gives you a better appreciation for the history, culture, and character of this great state. And if you’re a fellow Texan who’s far from home, maybe you’ll find a little something here that makes you smile and reminds you of the place we love.

Take a rare glimpse of the mysterious depths in Jacob’s Well

Jacob’s Well Exploration Project is a team of divers who have been exploring the underwater cave for more than 20 years. The cave is extremely narrow, making it difficult at times for divers to squeeze through when they’re fully decked out in gear. There’s not much that lives inside of Jacob’s Well other than blind salamanders, isopods and arthropods.

Master Blaster – 1,100ft Long Water Coaster | Schlitterbahn New Braunfels East

Take a ride on the Master Blaster water slide at Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, Texas, United States. The ride is one of the most popular attractions at Schlitterbahn and the lines can get extremely long. The two-passenger rafts are brought to the top of the tower on a conveyor belt, single riders may use the attraction alone as well. Once the ride is clear, a conveyor belt pushes the raft down the first drop before being plunged back up right after. Despite the length of this water coaster, the ride is not much more intense than any other Master Blaster out there, so it is not really worth the long wait.
